Gables Holiday Cottage, Achiltibuie is a self catering holiday home in Polbain, a small crofting hamlet in Coigach - the north west Highlands of Scotland. Gables Cottage offers stunning views out over the coast and beaches to the sea and Summer Isles. Clean fresh air, open mountains, clean spectacular beaches, we have it all on our doorstep and waiting for you! A great place to escape and take time to relax and recharge, or a perfect base to explore, walk, climb, fish and much, much more... The wild beauty of the West Coast

Ten miles north of Ullapool, turn left onto the winding single track road, passing Ben More and Stac Pollaidh, leading to the Coigach Peninsula, Achiltibuie, and Polbain. Polbain and Coigach is an ideal centre from which to explore the North West Highlands or just stay and relax among magnificent coastal scenery. Our location has great panoramic views out over the sea and Summer Isles. The views change with the light from hour to hour but will never fail to impress! Gables Cottage has a garden to appreciate the views, smells, sense and sounds all around. The sunsets and even occassional northern lights can be amazing! We are surrounded by beaches, hills, coast, mountains - some well known such as Staic Pollaidh and Suilven. No matter what your level of activity, there is plenty to see and do.

  We have stayed at The Gables on four occasions now, and already have a couple of weeks booked for 2024!
Everything about the cottage is perfect, from location, views, furnishing, comfort and service (thank you Linda). A wonderful base for idyllic holidays in Polbain and the Coigach Peninsula.
I can strongly recommend a stay here. Enjoy!!

  Lovely 2 weeks in Aug 2023. Immaculately clean, well-equipped and comfortable cottage with a large garden and stunning views across the Summer Isles.   Just back from there. Immaculately clean throughout and a well-furnished kitchen. If you contact the locale store in Achilitibuie, which we did, they can arrange to deliver food before you arrive - and it was so nice to come to the end of our drive up and find the wine chilling in the fridge and the shelves full of local produce.

In terms of 21st C appliances each room has ample power sockets so there's no fighting over who gets to recharge what first as can happen on holidays! Internet was faster than expected for the area, and the cottage is well covered by wifi though in the farthest bedroom from the router the signal does drop a bit in strength. Television picture too was clear, and used occasionally when the weather obscured the view from the windows out across the bay.

Central heating throughout so no matter the winds blowing outside the interior remains comfortable.  There's a great view covering a few of the Summer Isles and the building itself is distant enough from the nearest neighbour for the quiet only to be broken by sheep and cows in the nearby fields.

  The accommodation at Gables Cottage is excellent with lovely views over the Summer Isles. The setting is delightful with lots of interesting places to visit, nice walks, and great if you are the outdoors type and want to get away from it all. The Wee Mad Road nearby is a wonderful drive, and the beach at Achmelvich beautiful.Dont forget the Pie Shop at Lochinver!

  Great views from a lovely sunroom.  Very comfortable cottage and perfect for a week's holiday.  Lovely walks and cycles easily accessible.
